At Mary MacKillop College, we are proud to offer the Netball SA Silver Specialist Netball Program, designed for students with a passion for netball who are eager to enhance their skills and pursue excellence in the sport. This program is officially accredited by Netball SA and provides students with access to high-level coaching, development pathways and structured training while ensuring academic balance and success.

Program Overview

The Specialist Netball Program is tailored to support the growth of players aged 11 to 16, helping them develop their technical skills, tactical understanding and game awareness. Led by qualified coaches and educators, students will engage in a comprehensive training program that promotes athletic progression and teamwork, while fostering a culture of discipline, leadership and personal excellence.

Program Objectives

• Enhance individual playing performance and on-court confidence
• Represent the College in State Knockout and local Saturday morning competitions
• Foster an elite netball environment through advanced coaching and player development
• Integrate best practices in coaching, sports science and performance management
• Build understanding of learning styles, game analysis and the principles of elite sport
• Support students in reaching their full athletic and academic potential.

Program Components

Our training focuses on skill refinement, game intelligence, and fitness, including:

• Ball handling and fundamental skill development
• SAQ (Speed, Agility and Quickness) training to improve movement efficiency
• Tactical skills: passing, catching, footwork, attacking and defensive strategies, shooting, spatial awareness and decision-making
• Team play: communication, structures and tactical patterns
• Umpiring basics and rules of the game
• Physical conditioning: aerobic fitness, agility and speed assessments
• Game-day preparation and recovery strategies.
