Welcome back to Term 4 and farewell to the Class of 2019.
It is good to be back under Australian skies. I feel refreshed after my leave and I look forward to catching up with students and families over the next few weeks.
Last Thursday we farewelled our beautiful Year 12 students at a very moving Mass and Assembly. We were pleased to see so many parents, grandparents, old scholars and brothers. The Church was packed. It is important that we recognise and celebrate these transition points in life. The end of school life and the beginning of tertiary education and/or employment is one of these important milestones. We hope the values that we have endeavoured to instill will remain with your daughters throughout their lives. I was struck by the first reading which said “We have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us…”. When I look at the Class of 2019, I see a variety of gifts and talents that have enriched our school community over the years. Well done to the staff who have been involved in organising these final events for our students. We aim to provide special memories for the girls and their families and I look forward to seeing everyone again at the Graduation Dinner.
I was delighted to see the progress made on the Mary MacKillop Museum. We are looking forward to the opening of the Museum, and our students and staff will definitely be making a few visits.
Happy Birthday to Sr Margaret Kenny who has just celebrated her 90th Birthday. Sr Margaret was Principal at Mary MacKillop College from 1983 to 1985.
