Opening Prayer

Be determined with God's Help to always be sincere. Mary MacKillop 1872

We put a lot of energy into the outward selves that we present to others. We can be carried away by this, forgetting that the image presented on the outside may be quite different from who we are on the inside. We recognise this disconnection in others more easily than we do ourselves. Our striving to be genuine must begin in our own hearts. As Margaret Silf writes, When we tune into the heart beat of God, then our words will be truthful and our actions pure.

She is speaking about the effort to remember God's presence within us over the course of our day. Only when more of us are able to do this will the world become a happier and more peaceful place.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see god. Matthew 5:8

To explore a little more about academic excellence, I googled the concept and found some interesting reflections from the University of California which you can share with your daughter.
