Patience, and God will reward you all the more in the end.
Mary MacKillop 1874
We can find ourselves waiting for different things along our life's way - perhaps changes in our personal life, or in the Church, or in the wider world. It can be a huge learning curve - because after a while we realise that we can't force or hurry any of these changes. And what we await often comes in a time or manner we least expect. No wonder Joan Chittister states that "Expectation is the great spiritual snare of life. It tells us always that there is more to life than we now know. It leads directly to God." Her sentiments echo Mary's advice, as do the words of St Francis de Sales, who wrote: Have patience with all things, but first of all with yourself.
Then those who sow in tears will reap with shouts of joy.
Psalm 126:5
