Dear Families and Friends of Mary MacKillop College,

“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves”- Viktor Frankl 

We are indeed living in interesting times. I have been involved in education for nearly 40 years and I have never known anything like the situation we are experiencing now.

Maintaining connections is important but so is online safety. We are naturally drawn to surround ourselves with family and friends. So when faced with circumstances as we currently are, a lack of meaningful face-to-face connections does not feel right.

Social Outreach

Caritas Project Compassion

Throughout Project Compassion 2020, our students have heard many inspiring stories from the Phillipines, Cambodia, Australia, India, Malawi and Papua New Guinea.

As part of the Creative Culinary unit, the Year 10 class explored the elements and intricacies of creating the mighty pastry dish, the croquembouche. This patisserie creation consists of three main elements, the choux pastry profiteroles, the vanilla crème patissiere and spun toffee. Over the course of week 6 and 7, the class investigated the dish and the elements that created it.

Sumit and Viren from Domino’s Pizza Tranmere kindly donated pizza for staff on Wednesday 1 April. This gesture was organised by Maria Turnbull (Ella & Lucy’s Mum), who works in healthcare.

Dear Lord God,

We thank you that you are a forgiving God, who wipes out all the wrongs from the past, and starts anew with us today.

Bring healing and comfort to those who are anxious, upset, lonely, or ill today; encourage those who help and care for them. May all who suffer be led from pain to peace.

We give you thanks for your loving mercy shown to us in Jesus Christ, who endured the suffering of the cross to overcome all that separates us from you, and was raised up to new life.

Strengthen our faith in the victory of the cross and the hope of eternal life. Help us to grow in the life which does not end, in love and friendship with you, which lasts for ever; through your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ.

Amen.

Tenison claims victory at the 2020 Athletics Carnival

Friday 13 March 2020 was a day where the College went back in time as we embraced ‘Through the Decades’ as this year’s theme at the annual Mary MacKillop College Athletics Carnival. The day was filled with many achievements and celebrations across multiple athletic events. It was fantastic seeing so many students dress up in their house’s decade and I would like to congratulate the students across Years 7-12 who won the best dressed awards.

Dear Parents/Students,

The Premier's Reading Challenge plays an important role in promoting the love of reading and this year more than any other, students will find joy, continuity and comfort in books! With your continued support, our students will keep reading and participating in the Challenge!

The 2020 Volunteering Award for Outstanding Service was awarded to the Piotto family. On behalf of the College, we thank Lino and Tania for their ongoing commitment and contribution.
