State Representation

Through the College, students have an opportunity to trial for a number of interstate sporting teams.

Catholic Interstate Netball Teams (U/16 and Open)
This competition is available to all female students attending Catholic schools in SA. Teams are selected through trials which occur at the end of Term 1. The team participates in the National Catholic Netball Championships held in the first week of the October School Holidays.

Other Interstate or Representative Teams
Schools affiliated with SSSSA may nominate a student for any Interstate or Representative Team across a wide variety of sports.

Inter-House Sport

An inter-House competition is held during Terms 2 and 3. It involves each of the four Houses – Alexander, Flora, Tappeiner and Tenison – competing at lunchtimes in a variety of sports to earn points towards winning the cup. The Middle and Senior School House Captains are predominantly responsible for the running of this competition.

Saturday Sport

The College is a member of the South Australian Catholic Secondary Schools Girls Sport Association (SACSSGSA), which offers a year round extra-curricular sport program. All girls in Years 8 - 12 are able to participate on a voluntary basis but must commit to one after school training per week and one Saturday Morning match. A Sports Contract is in place to improve the student’s level of personal dedication and commitment towards all sporting activities.

Summer Sports - Terms 1 & 4

Winter Sports - Terms 2 & 3

Coaching and Umpiring

Year 11 students have the opportunity to coach a Saturday morning sport team as part of the Community Service Program. Students are also given the opportunity to umpire Saturday morning netball matches.

Interschool Sport

Each year the College holds its annual Swimming and Athletics Carnival. From these carnivals, students are selected to represent the school at the Catholic state interschool carnivals.

Statewide Knockout Competitions

The College regularly enters teams in the Statewide Knockout Competitions involving students from Government and Non-Government schools across the state. In order to participate in a Knockout team, trials are held to ensure the best athletes are selected to represent the College.

The College will enter a Junior Team (Year 8 and 9 students) and an Open Team (open to all students) for each sport.

City to Bay Fun Run

Students are given the opportunity to run as part of the Mary MacKillop College City to Bay Fun Run Team. Participants have the choice of running or walking the 12km event.

Fitness groups

The College offers weekly fitness groups before and after school. Students experience a range of fitness opportunities such as boxing, Pilates, Zumba and cardio activities.

Gold Coast Netball Carnival

The College offers Year 8-12 students the opportunity to trial for the Mary MacKillop Interstate Netball team that travels to The Gold Coast, Queensland. Students travel during the Term 2 break and spend one week playing Netball against teams from Australia and New Zealand.
