Caritas Project Compassion

“Give Lent 100%” as "Lives change when we all give 100%".

Throughout Project Compassion 2019, our students have heard many inspiring stories from the Zimbabwe, Indonesia, Australia, Solomon Islands, Vietnam and Bangladesh. These stories highlight the importance of working hand in hand with others and empowering people to be agents for change. Caritas Australia promotes the message that “Lives change when we all give 100%”

In the words of Pope Francis, “We must regain the conviction that we need one another, that we have a shared responsibility for others and the world, and that being good and decent are worth it.”

MacKillop girls have embraced Caritas Project Compassion and have put words into action by holding a variety of fundraisers so far this term.

Year 7 Blue held a fundraiser selling chocolate chip cookies and homemade ice cream cookie sandwiches. Year 7 Green plan to sell donuts and hold a donut eating competition. The Student Leadership Team held a sausage sizzle for Success and have initiated the Battle of Sing Star fundraiser, where staff compete against the students. Year 9 Green have collectively come up with an idea that raises money and helps the environment. They will collect recyclable bottles/cans, exchange them for money and donate it to Project Compassion. One simple act can help to make a difference in the lives of others and the environment. Year 9 Green students were inspired by the Project Compassion story of 12 year old Thandowayo from the Zimbabwe village who has to walk three hours to get dirty water!

Thank you so much for your support.
