From the Deputy Principal

As we come close to the final week of Term 1, I take this opportunity to offer gratitude to our parents and their daughters. There is no doubt that we begin the school year with a long and jam packed term. The girls begin in Week 1 with great anticipation and throughout this term they have continued to thrive as learners. There have been so many opportunities to engage in life beyond the classroom and MacKillop girls have done so with great enthusiasm. I am mindful of the excursions, whole school events, camps, celebrations and co-curricular activities that have made up this full and rich term. I thank parents for encouraging their daughter’s involvement and commitment to life at the College. I thank the girls for always representing the school with pride and for engaging in each opportunity with optimism and energy. I am also grateful for the way in which students support the values of the College in their everyday activities. I have watched Year 11 and 12 girls act as sisters to the Year 7 and 8 girls and in doing so share what it means to be a MacKillop girl. I have listened to students as they share their ideas on what campaign we should be supporting, how we should be doing more for the environment and how we can improve the lives of others. MacKillop girls know the value of wearing their uniform with pride, attending school all day every day and completing homework on time. They are committed to being their best selves and supported by parents who work in partnership with the College. For all of this, we are truly grateful. As this long term slowly ends, I thank all for their contribution to the school community and Mary’s vision. We will celebrate this term with a Good News assembly on Thursday. Photos of this event will be posted to our Facebook page for families to enjoy. The Year 12 girls will end the term with their Retreat, carefully prepared by Mrs Adriana Sotira and her team of teachers. I hope that this time is a chance for the girls to catch their breath, enjoy each other’s company and reflect on their goals for the remainder of 2019. Term 2 begins for all students on Monday 29 April with girls in their full winter uniform.
