Swimming carnival

What do you get when you mix sunshine, swimming, cheering, Boost Juice and various cartoon characters? The answer is the annual Mary MacKillop College Swimming Carnival. The College Swimming Carnival was held on Friday 1 February and many students took to the water to participate in the traditional events and the popular novelty events. The leadership and organsiation from our four House Captains was tested in the very first week of school and they did not disappoint. I commend the House Captains, Stephanie, Tamara, Maddison and Giorgiana on their outstanding leadership and enthusiasm displayed on Friday and leading up to the carnival.

On behalf of the Sports Department and College we congratulate the following age group Champions and runners up:

  • U/13 Runner Up: Keeleigh
  • U/13 Champion: Jaymie
  • U/14 Runner Up: Lauren
  • U/14 Champion: Amelia

  • U/15 Champion: Amelia
  • U/16 Runner Up: Aoibh
  • U/16 Champion: Ava
  • 16+ Runner Up: Sarah

Flora House, under the guidance and leadership of House Captain, Giorgiana, was the Spirit Award winners for 2019 after having cheered, sang and danced all day long.

This year, Tenison House was able to once again retain the shield since 2017. The results were:

  • 4th position: Tappeiner with 347 points
  • 3rd position: Alexander with 462 points
  • 2nd position: Flora with 545 points
  • 1st position: Tenison with 603 points

Congratulations to all members of Tenison and House Captain, Stephanie.

We look forward with excitement to the Athletics Carnival on Friday Week 7 and of course cannot wait to see what the Heroes & Villains themed costumes bring on the day.
