We have had a definite taste of spring over the last few weeks and we are all looking forward to the final days of this term.
Last Friday night, I was fortunate enough to attend the annual SASTA (South Australian Science Teachers Association) Awards at Brighton High. Carla Ceravolo (Year 11 and College Captain for 2019) won an award in the category of ‘Scientific Writing’. It was inspiring to see so many young people who have engaged in the world of science through this competition. We will be encouraging our students to participate next year.
A lot has happened this term and many teachers will still be involved in professional learning over the term break. Helen Steele and the Pastoral Care Coordinators will participate in a three day intensive course on positive education. I will be heading off to Queensland to participate in an instructional coaching course delivered by Jim Knight. While I hope there will be time to refresh and recharge, I know that many of our teaching staff will be planning and preparing for Term 4. Let us not forget our wonderful Year 12 cohort who have led the College so well this year. They are on the home stretch, and their final assignments and exams are in sight.
In Term 4, Claude Iannace will take Long Service Leave for three weeks. Classes will be covered by current staff. Julia Marciano will be taking leave in Term 4 and her classes will be covered by Joe Alvaro. Alex Campbell-Wilson will continue working with us in Term 4.
Our Annual Sports Night is on Tuesday 16 October, Week 1 of Term 4. As well as being a night of celebration, the evening is also informative and lots of fun. I hope to see you there. You may purchase your tickets here.
I hope that you all have a restful break.
