From the Principal

Last week was a very special week as Ms Steele and I were fortunate enough to interview the students who applied to be our 2019 College Captains. The applications were well researched and beautifully written. I commented on how the standard was better than many applications I have received for employment positions. The girls know and understand their school very well. They have a vision for 2019 which is inspiring and made me feel very humble.

On Thursday 6 September, we gathered in the College gymnasium to hear the College Captain speeches, which were well crafted, funny and thought provoking. The Year 11 students and the Staff of the College then voted. At 3.20pm, the College Captains for 2019 were announced. I am delighted to announce that the College Captains for 2019 are Carla Ceravolo and Carla Russo. We wish both girls every blessing as they embark on this significant journey. By the end of Friday 14 September we will have finalised the Student Leadership Team for 2019. Keep an eye on our Facebook Posts for this important update.

There has been much discussion around the Digital Tech Hub. The excitement is building and staff and students have been giving feedback on design and colour. We are still very much in the planning stage, with lots of details to consider as we move staff and students out of classrooms and offices in early Term 4. As we have now embarked on a number of these renovations, we feel confident in the processes we put in place so that we minimise disruption to College life and at the same time facilitate a smooth demolition and building process.

On Friday 7 September, our Staff ‘headed for the hills’ to the beautiful and unique little town of Macclesfield. We visited St James the Less church and immersed ourselves in another chapter of the Josephite story. It was a day of prayer and reflection and deep reverence and appreciation of personal story and community history.
