Principal’s Academic Excellence Awards

At our Awards Assembly in Week 1, academic awards were presented to students who achieved outstanding results in their Term 2 studies. Before these were presented, I discussed with students how important learning is. Learning is a privilege, and it is a delight to work in such a dedicated learning community. Learning is not just what we do in the classroom but something our young people will need to do their whole lifetime. What will be important as they take their place in our rapidly changing society is what they do with what they know. That challenge of problem solving with knowledge is what we do every day in our learning at MacKillop.

We then acknowledged our best learners. Congratulations to the following students on receiving the Principal’s Academic Awards:

Subject Selection 2019

Term 3 begins the process of preparing for 2019. The first step, of course, is student subject selections. Students entering Year 10 and 11 in 2019 have received a letter inviting them to attend the SACE information sessions on Monday 6 August. In these sessions, I will discuss the way forward for Year 11 and 12, outline the SACE requirements, ATAR calculations and the subject counselling process available to your daughter to enable her to make the best subject choices in her Senior Years at the College. Your attendance at this important information session will be beneficial. Please return the RSVP slip attached to the letter sent home last Friday.

The information evening will be followed by Course/Subject Counselling Sessions, available for all students entering Year 10, 11 or 12 in 2019. After Monday 6 August you will receive an email inviting you to book in for a one-on-one discussion with our experienced staff to talk about your daughter’s subject selection. I recommend that all students entering Year 12 book one of these sessions. I also highly encourage that all students entering Year 11 in 2019 attend also. Bookings for these sessions will be completed via our Edval Interview site. If you haven’t received this email with your unique booking web code, please contact my office via my email.

Students entering Year 9 and 10 in 2019 will receive a copy of the 2019 Curriculum Handbook and the Subject Selection form during the next two weeks. All students will need to complete their online subject selections and return a copy of the print out version by Friday 24 August. The 2019 Curriculum Handbook is also available on the College website here.

If you have any questions about subject selections or in fact anything to do with curriculum, please don’t hesitate to contact me at the College.
