Just Jazz and Bella Diva at ANCA Elder Hall.JPG

Music Matters

On the weekend, two of our vocal ensembles performed at the Young Adelaide Sings Festival held at Elder Hall, the University of Adelaide.

Bella Diva and Just Jazz both performed songs that they had been preparing and rehearsing this semester. It was an excellent opportunity to see the university grounds, as well as perform at one of Adelaide’s most prestigious concert venues.

For a number of the students in Bella Diva it was their first performance anywhere, let alone Elder Hall. Directed by Mrs Coxhill, both groups performed admirably and presented a polished and vibrant show. It was a wonderful learning opportunity for all involved.

Not to be left out, Italcanti will head off to St Martin’s Catholic Primary School in Greenacres next Tuesday for their first performance of the year in what they have called ‘Italian Cultural Day’. The following day, all music students will attend the Fantastic Symphonies Concert at the Adelaide Town Hall. Mr Paul Rissmann will present a talk about four of history’s most famous symphonies performed by the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.

This promises to be a rich learning experience for our students, steeped in insights and musical discussions. This will be a wonderful way to close out the semester.
