VET Short Courses Term 2
Are you interested in developing your employability skills during the Term 2 holidays? If so, then one of the short courses below may be of interest to you. All courses are through Queensford College, Level 11, 90 King William Street, Adelaide.

Barista Short Course
Whether you are looking for a part time job or simply wanting to learn how to make the perfect espresso coffee, this course is for you.
Course Dates: Tuesday 10 July or Tuesday 17 July
Course duration: 9.00am – 4.00pm
Some pre-reading is required for this course and the hygiene unit is completed online.
First Aid Course
The units in this course describe the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty.
Course Date: Tuesday 17 July
Course duration: 9.00am to 3.00pm
Some pre-reading is required for this course and the theory component is completed online.
Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA)
This course provides participants with the skills and knowledge to satisfy the requirements for responsible service of alcohol under State / Territory legislation.
Course Date: Thursday 12 July
Course duration: 9.00am – 1.00pm
Certificate 3 in Hospitality Holiday program
Queensford college are also hosting a Certificate 3 in Hospitality course over the school holidays where you can meet some of the competencies towards this qualification including: using hygienic practices for food preparation, how to prepare and serve espresso coffee, provide responsible service of alcohol, serve food and beverages. This could develop excellent skills for applying for a part time job in the hospitality area including cafes.
The course will take place on Thursday 12, Friday 13, Thursday 19 and Friday 20 July.
Cost is $450
A reminder that registrations for the 2018 UMAT (Undergraduate Medicine and Health Sciences Admission Test) are now open. The UMAT is a compulsory test for students completing Year 12 in 2018 who intend to study Medicine, Dental Science or associated courses. Registrations close on 1 June 2018 and the test date is 25 July 2018. Further information can be found at the UMAT website at http://umat.acer.edu.au. The National Institute of Education at www.nie.edu.au and MedEntry at www.MedEntry.edu.au have preparation programs for students in Year 10, 11 & 12. Details are available on these websites.
CAREERS & EMPLOYMENT EXPO
Course Date: Monday 25 May - Tuesday 26 May, 2018
Course Location: Jubilee Pavilion, Adelaide Showgrounds
Course Time: Sunday 10.00am – 4.00pm
All Year 10 students will attend on Friday, but students in Year 11 & 12 may be interested in attending. The Adelaide Careers and Employment Expo is a leading careers, training, education and employment event. The event offers the opportunity for students, job seekers and career changers to connect with organisations for guidance, clarity and opportunities in relation to career options.
