Over the past three weeks, Mary MacKillop College was fortunate to host six Japanese exchange students from St Capitanio School, located in Seto, Japan.
The Year 10 students hosted our visitors, with ‘buddies’ supporting the integration of our St Capitanio Sisters into College life. Throughout their time with us, the Year 10 students further developed cross-cultural understanding, formed friendships and engaged in a variety of rich learning opportunities both within and outside of the College.
At the farewell assembly, two Mary MacKillop College buddies, Maddison and Pia, delivered the following parting words to our guests on behalf of the Year 10 Cohort:
We are so glad we have had the opportunity to meet you all and learn all about you and Japan. We have learnt about the sports you like, how to make origami, a few Japanese words and what type of music you like. We have made so many memories and some highlights were the aquatics camp, Monarto zoo and the countless selfies we have taken. You have taught us the true meaning of friendship how you all look out for one another and are always smiling and happy.
You make us happy because you are always laughing at our jokes and saying hello. You put 100% into every task we give you. Thank you for all your little gifts including your intricate small origami. Thank you for choosing to come to Mary MacKillop College. You are all so polite, enthusiastic and funny. We hope you have enjoyed your experience here in Australia and we hope to see you all again one day. We will cherish these memories forever.
