St Joseph’s Day Mass and Leadership Induction at St Ignatius Church

On Thursday 22 March, our College Community gathered with the Sisters Of St Joseph and special guests to celebrate the Feast Day of St Joseph at St Ignatius Catholic Church.  It was an opportunity for us to reflect on the life of a man so important to our Catholic faith and the Josephite charism. St Joseph, when faced with decisions in his life, opted to respond with compassion and empathy. He responded to the call of God with dignity and protected his young family. Fr Stan called upon our community to respond to the injustices in our world and to look to St Joseph and St Mary of the Cross MacKillop for inspiration. He preached that even if we are afraid, we must find the courage to stand up and speak for those who do not have a voice.

After the Mass, a number of Students were inducted into College Leadership for 2018. Ms Steele introduced the ceremony with the idea that “Leadership is a call to serve, inspire and dream”. These students were chosen to represent their peers in a number of areas of leadership, including Peer Support, CROPS, SRC and the Student Leadership team. The College also recognised the contributions of the Brodie family to the College and they were presented with the ‘Minister for Education and Child Development Volunteering Award for Outstanding Service’ by our Principal, Ms Kath McGuigan.

On behalf of the College, I thank all participants for making Thursday a special celebration.
