From the Religious Education Coordinator

On Thursday 8 February our school community gathered for our Beginning of Year Mass at St Ignatius Church. We gathered in the presence of God to welcome in the New Year and acknowledge the academic results from 2017. The new school year offers us an opportunity to review our personal growth and make some new goals. During this Mass we introduced the theme for 2018, “Find Happiness in making others Happy”. We are reminded by St Mary of the Cross MacKillop that true happiness can be found in the way we are with others, thinking of others' happiness in the small things that we do.

Just a reminder that Lent starts on 14 February. Catholics use the days set aside to reflect and prepare to celebrate the risen Christ on Easter Sunday.  Students and staff will have an Ash Wednesday Liturgy at the College on Wednesday morning to mark the beginning of this important time of preparation in the Church’s Liturgical calendar.

With the beginning of Lent next week comes the launch of Project Compassion. Our Social Justice Captains, Hannah and Emily, have been planning ways in which to raise some much needed funds and awareness for Caritas’ Project Compassion campaign. Over the coming weeks homerooms will hold various fundraising projects for this always worthy cause. More information about the amazing work that Caritas do in empowering people to have Just futures can be found through their website
