On Tuesday 16 August, Year 8 and 9 students participated in National Science Week activities by viewing the performance 'STEMania'. Actors from Perform Educational Musicals presented four skits that allowed our girls to discuss and learn about the uses of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths in everyday situations.
The reflections presented below were written by two Year 9 students:
“Stemania gave us the opportunity to learn about science, technology, engineering and maths in a fun and engaging way. The performers added humor to their performance and as a result, the year 8 and 9's loved the show and were able to absorb the scientific information that was being presented. Overall I personally think that the performance was worth watching and I recommend it for students in the future.”
Adriana - Year 9 student
"STEMania opened up our eyes to a whole new realm of the world of science. Through skits and slideshows, the actors taught us about science, technology, engineering and maths. The audience got really involved as their favourite celebrities, foods and animals were incorporated into fun skits performed by the actors. Although the skits were funny and entertaining, they successfully combined science with comedy and made the performance very educational. By viewing these skits, I personally learnt about vehicles called autonomous tractors and trucks that can run all by themselves."
