The College offers a variety of Music Ensembles for students to participate in, including:

  • Gospel Choir (all Year 8 – 10 vocal students)
  • Liturgy Choir (Year 10 vocal students)
  • Mixed Bag (all Year levels who play woodwind, brass or rhythm section instruments)
  • Flute Ensemble
  • Saxophone Ensemble
  • Guitar Ensemble
  • String Ensemble
  • Senior Vocal Ensemble
  • Contemporary Vocal Ensemble
  •  Jazz Instrumental Ensemble
  • Italcanti
  • Rock Band (all year levels).

Music Ensembles are regularly formed to cater for the individual needs and talents of our students and as a result the core list is added to or modified on an annual basis. This ensures that every student is given an opportunity to participate in an extension activity designed to develop their practical ability and contribute to their confidence as an emerging performer.

Instrumental Program

As part of the extensive music program at Mary MacKillop College, we offer many opportunities for students to learn an instrument.

In establishing our very successful instrumental program, we have been fortunate to secure the skills of a team of highly qualified and experienced teachers, who are themselves successful professional performers.

Students are able to study Modern Voice, Drums, Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Classical or Modern Piano, Violin, Guitar and Bass Guitar.

Girls have the opportunity to join extension ensembles to further develop their musical aptitude. It is a valuable and rewarding experience to be a member of the school band, choir or orchestra. The music students are involved in many performances throughout the year both within the school and the wider community.

Instrumental lessons are conducted on a rotational basis and are 30 minutes long so students miss a portion of a different class each week.

Tuition Costs

Individual lesson: $24 per half hour.

Shared lesson (voice only, Years 8 and 9): $14 per half hour.

If your daughter is interested in learning an instrument please collect an application form from the College office.
