From the Principal

The sun was shining and there was a lot of pink – even pink flamingos were seen at Mary MacKillop College. We opened our doors to celebrate who we are and to show off our wonderful school community. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make this such a special day. A special thank you to our Alumnae Ambassadors, our old scholars who came along to be tour guides and assist our younger students.

From the Deputy Principal

Our Open Day was a wonderful time of showcasing our school community and meeting prospective families. This year, we met a lot of potential Year 7 students who delighted in trying on the College blazer and imagining themselves as MacKillop girls. Our students relished in the chance to run tours. They spoke affectionately about the school, their teachers and their friends. We look forward to meeting with new parents in the coming months as we go through the enrolment process.

Year 8 Camp

Last week, the annual Year 8 Camp was held at El Shaddai. The camp was conducted from Wednesday 21 March to Friday 23 February.

Students participated in many diverse activities which allowed them to step outside of their comfort zone, embrace new experiences, build confidence, trust in and respect others and themselves, and take opportunities to enhance their social, physical and emotional development.

Opening--Prayer.jpg

Opening Prayer

God,

Forgive those things we have done
which have caused sadness,
and those things we should have done
that would have brought joy.
Bring us back to that place
where our journey began,
when we said that we would follow
the way that Jesus first trod.
Lead us to the Cross
and meet us there.

Amen.

Eastern Region Schools - Ready for Year 7

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS & CAREGIVERS

Catholic Education South Australia (CESA) is moving Year 7 from primary to secondary
settings - with most Catholic primary schools making the move in 2019.

The following schools in the Eastern Region will make this move a year later:

  • St Joseph’s School, Hectorville
  • St Joseph’s Memorial School, Norwood
  • St Joseph’s School, Payneham
  • St Joseph’s School, Tranmere
  • St Francis of Assisi School, Newton

This means that, from 2020, the above local Catholic primary schools will no longer offer
Year 7 as Year 6 will become the final year of primary schooling.

If you know families in these school communities, you are welcome to encourage them to consider enrolling at our school.
