Last week I attended a Principal’s Summit at Adelaide University which looked at future possibilities for the world of work. I was very impressed with the Deputy Vice- Chancellor and Vice – President (Academic), Professor Pascale Quester who spoke about her own experience of university life. She said that she very much believed in global education. Her Degree was from France, her Masters from the USA and her PHd from New Zealand.

On Sunday we will host a ‘She Inspires Me’ High Tea at MMC.  We are looking forward to gathering with MacKillop Girls, past, present and future. We hope to acknowledge those women who inspire us whilst raising awareness around the work of the White Ribbon Foundation.

Last Tuesday evening we held our Annual Music Night here at Mary MacKillop College.  Monday was the set-up day that transformed the College Gymnasium into the performance venue with professional sound and lighting as well as staging and curtains to bring everything into focus.

Science Week: Future Earth: Global Sustainability
The aim of Science Week this year was to increase student awareness that our “Future Earth” is dependent not only on a healthy environment, stable climate, clean water and reliable water supplies, sanitary waste disposal and clean oceans but most importantly  on active and informed citizens. The activities offered during Science week, focused on the potential impacts of our use and disposal of plastic materials.

Last Tuesday evening saw many families gather in the school gymnasium to celebrate our College Music Night. The space, normally set aside for sport, was transformed with lights, staging and curtains to create a theatre style setting. Before long we were all singing the College Anthem led by the Student Leadership Team and then we settled into an evening of performance, song and sound.

In the Footsteps of Mary MacKillop… in Penola
On the 21 August, 46 excited Year 11 students and five equally excited teachers embarked on a pilgrimage to Penola. While we were there we visited Mary MacKillop Memorial School and connected with our pen pals with whom we had exchanged four letters during the year.

Something Wicked this Way Comes
Thursday 7 September, saw the Year 11 cohort off to the Dunstan Playhouse to see the State Theatre Company’s 2017 production of Something Wicked this Way Comes. For many students this excursion was their first experience of dramatic theatre.

Parents and friends are invited to volunteer in the canteen which is a great opportunity to broaden friendships and enhance the environment for our MacKillop girls. If you are able to join our happy crew of volunteers, by helping for a few hours, from as little as once a month to weekly or daily, our Canteen Manager Narelle Matthews would love to hear from you!

2018 Application for External Sibling Discount

Applications for the External Sibling Discount are due on 20 October 2017.

This form is to be completed by families with one daughter studying at Mary MacKillop College and at least one sibling studying at another Catholic school.

Families with two or more daughters studying at Mary MacKillop College do not need to complete this form. College enrolment records will be used to determine the internal sibling discount.
