From the Principal

Dear Parents and Friends of Mary MacKillop College,

We are very excited about our Open Day coming up this Sunday at the new time of 12 -2pm. Helen Steele, our Deputy Principal has been visiting local primary schools with some of our Year 9 students to encourage the primary students to come along and see what a great place Mary MacKillop College is for the next stage of their learning. The weather will be fine and our guests are promised a warm welcome and many interesting activities. I look forward to a successful Open Day.

Kath McGuigan
Principal

Open Day, Year 8 & 9 Camps, Ash Wednesday

In preparation for Open Day I have had the opportunity to visit a number of Catholic Primary schools. Year 9 old scholars join me on the visits and they take great delight in seeing their old primary school, often wrapping their arms around teachers and younger students.

Opening--Prayer.jpg

Opening Prayer

God of love and compassion,
You created each of us as unique images of you,
Yet you created us as one human family.
We pray that during this Lenten season,
We may have the courage to turn away from selfishness to follow your greatest commandment,
To love You and to love our neighbours.
We make this prayer in Jesus’ name.

Amen

From the Religious Education Coordinator

This week we begin our Lenten Season...

Have you ever wondered why people tend to eat pancakes on the day before Ash Wednesday? At Mary MacKillop College we engage in the tradition of eating pancakes on Shrove Tuesday to feast before Lent begins on Ash Wednesday. Donations were collected to kick-start Project Compassion for the Lenten Season.
