From the Principal

Dear Parents and Friends of Mary MacKillop College,

It was an honour and a privilege to attend the 2017 SACE Merit Ceremony at Government House last week. It was a beautiful day and it was fortunate that the grass was not too wet from the deluge the day before.

“Gratitude is the Memory of the Heart”- (Mary MacKillop 1907).

I will embrace this to guide and challenge me throughout the year.

What a delight it was to be present at the Beginning of Year Mass, to celebrate the academic achievements of the Class of 2016. They are all stars in their own right.

Parent Information Night, Beginning of Year Mass, #lesssnapmorechat

Term 1 unfolds with many events and least not of these are our Parent Information Evenings. Beginning with Year 8, parents had the opportunity to meet their daughter’s Pastoral Care Teacher and mingle with other parents. It was a lovely opportunity to welcome new families to the College. On Monday 20 February our Year 9, 10 and 11 parents will join us for an evening with Kirrilie Smout who will explore the common pitfalls for teens in cyber-life.

Swimming Carnival

From the Sport Coordinator

Sunshine, swimming, cheering,  green aliens, Minnie & Mickey Mouse, yellow bumble bees and blue under the sea creatures was the perfect combination for the MMC Swimming carnival held on Friday 3 February. Our Sport Captains started off the day with an entertaining opening ceremony which was soon followed by countless loud cheers and of course many swimming races and novelty events.

Opening--Prayer.jpg

Opening Prayer

“Gratitude is the memory of the Heart“.

As we begin a new school year, let us take a few moments to reflect on the words spoken by Mary MacKillop in 1907 “Gratitude is the memory of the Heart“.

Lets us pray….
In gratitude for the students, staff and parents involved in the Mary MacKillop community may the Spirit of God grant them the gifts of wisdom and understanding.
In gratitude for the many challenges and opportunities that present themselves to the students throughout their education at Mary MacKillop College.
In gratitude for parents, the first teachers of their children, that their faith and love may be an example to us always.

Amen
