From the Principal

Dear Parents and Friends of Mary MacKillop College,

This is the final newsletter of 2016. We have come to the end of the Sesquicentenary Year for the Sisters of St Joseph. We have much to be grateful for and to celebrate.

We have had an excellent week with our Year 8 and Year 9 students and our Asian Adventure program. Please check out our Facebook page for photos! A dedicated team of staff have assisted Cathy Swain to provide a range of activities for the students to know and understand Asian culture.

From the Deputy Principal

The Jurassic Park theme music filled the church and images of our girls, staff and families lit up the screen. Some families recognised the music and waited for a dinosaur to appear while others watched in great anticipation of seeing an image of their daughter. The slide show marked the conclusion of our End of Year Mass and the beginning of our 2016 Awards Ceremony.

The evening was a celebration of the school year and acknowledged excellence whilst celebrating each other.

End of Year Mass

On Tuesday  6 December 2016 the school community celebrated the End of Year Mass in St Ignatius Church, Norwood, to reflect on the year, in particular to acknowledge academic and community achievements. It was a wonderful faith filled celebration shared with family and friends of the College.

Social Justice Outreach
Inspired by the charism of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop to 'never see a need without doing something about it', the students have been active supporters of various campaigns to raise awareness of existing social justice issues and making a difference in the lives of others.

The weather forecast gave us the impression that 2 days of rain were to be expected for the time of our stay on the island, however it was nothing but perfect conditions when we docked in to a place that can only be described as paradise...

Prayer to End of School Year

God of wisdom, we thank you for all the gifts you have given us throughout this school year.

We praise you for giving us life, for saving us in Christ, and for choosing us to be your people.

As we come to the end of this school year, we voice our gratitude for the good things you have done in us, and we praise you for all who have shared in the work of this school.

We ask you to bless them in your love and give them refreshment and peace.

We praise you, God, through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns forever and ever.

Amen
