From the Principal

Welcome back to Term 4 which is supposed to herald the start of summer. Week 1 of the term definitely did not feel like summer. The Year 12 students were pleased to find that their commemorative jackets provided an extra layer of warmth for the unseasonal conditions.

This Year 12 cohort has been a great group of young women. I have known them to be positive in their approach to study and to have a zest for life which is infectious. They have provided strong leadership and exemplary service.

Sports Night

Wednesday 19 October saw the Mary MacKillop College community come together to celebrate all things sport. The gymnasium was transformed from a place of running and jumping into a venue in which the achievements and stories from 2016 could be shared. Under the leadership of the House captains, this year we welcomed Australian Olympian Jessica Trengove, Old Scholar and current State Basketballer Alex Ciabattoni, and the Time in Space Circus Company to share the evening with us.

Mini Field of Women - Breast Cancer tribute event

On Thursday 20 October our College ‘pinked up’ and held the Breast Cancer Mini Field of Women event.  On the day we payed tribute to people and families affected by breast cancer by exhibiting 100 pink lady silhouettes displaying messages of support and hope.  We thank the school community for their participation and thoughtful messages.

Parents and friends are invited to volunteer in the canteen which is a great opportunity to broaden friendships and enhance the environment for our MacKillop girls. If you are able to join our happy crew of volunteers, by helping for a few hours, from as little as once a month to weekly or daily, our Canteen Manager Narelle Matthews would love to hear from you!
